Severn Four Credit Union (SFCU) is a Credit Union based in the North of Bristol and welcomes membership applications from anyone living or working (paid or voluntary) within the City of Bristol and parts of South Gloucestershire.

SFCU was originally started by local volunteers as a savings club.  Thanks to their hard work and the growth in membership, the very successful savings club was able to register as a Credit Union in June 2000.  This enabled us to extend the benefits to our members, including access to low-cost loans and free life insurance on savings and loans.

SFCU is run by a Board of Directors who have been elected by and from the members to ensure that the Credit Union, is run properly and continues to grow in the way that the members want. 

All members have an equal say in how the Credit Union is run with each member having one vote at meetings from the day they join.  This is what makes a Credit Union unique!  No individual or group controls us.

The money deposited by members enables other members to take out affordable low-cost loans.  This is much cheaper than using high-interest lenders such as the doorstep lending companies.

Money also stays in the local community, which helps to boost the local economy and regenerate the area.

Our members have the opportunity not only to borrow money at affordable rates, but  to have savings growing alongside.

I've never looked back!  I wished I'd joined years ago......not only am I able to clear off other high interest credit which was crippling me, but I also have a growing pot of savings, which already amounts to a couple of hundred pounds.
